We are excited to announce our structured 6-week beginner course,
aligned with school terms, starting on 11 Jan 2025 09:00 - 10:30. These
courses are perfect for those new to judo and will provide a
comprehensive introduction to the sport in a supportive and
organized environment.
Whether you’re looking to learn the basics, build
confidence, or get active, this course is the perfect place

Founded in May 2001, Moonrakers Judo Club is proudly based in Salisbury, England. As a dedicated member of the British Judo Association, we are committed to upholding the highest standards in judo. Our club boasts two fully qualified coaches who are present at every training session, ensuring expert guidance and support.

Peter (Sensei) brings over 50 years of competitive judo experience and an unparalleled passion to every training session. A 1st Dan Black Belt, he excels in building solid fundamentals while inspiring students to achieve their full potential. A former county and area champion, Peter has trained numerous students to earn their 1st Dan Black Belts. Many of his protégés have competed at county, area, and national levels, with some even representing England. Known for his approachable teaching style, Peter is highly regarded by beginners and seasoned judokas alike, ensuring each session is both engaging and impactful.
Tom, a 2nd Dan Black Belt and seasoned coach, has dedicated over 30 years to practicing judo. As a former medalist in County, Area, British Universities, and Army Championships, he brings a wealth of competitive expertise to the club. Tom is especially passionate about mentoring younger and less experienced members, focusing on teaching judo fundamentals in a fun and engaging way while preparing them for success in their early competitions. He also leads our highly popular six-week beginner courses.
Helen, a 1st Dan Black Belt, offers additional support during training sessions. Her patient and supportive approach helps students refine their skills and develop a deeper understanding of judo. Helen is dedicated to creating a positive learning environment for everyone.
Peter, holds a 5th Dan Black Belt and brings decades of experience to the club. His advanced understanding of judo techniques and strategies is invaluable to both coaches and students. Peter's mentorship helps maintain the high standard of training at Moonrakers.
Sven (primary contact) and Hannah are our Welfare Officers, ensuring the well-being and safety of all our members. Their role is crucial in maintaining a supportive and inclusive atmosphere at the club, making sure everyone feels valued and heard. Contact Club Welfare
